Cabaret

I’ve performed shows in NYC at: Don’t Tell Mama (2015), The Triad (2019), The Laurie Beechman Theatre (2017) & Pangea (2021 & 2022).  In the Philadelphia area I played: The Celebrity Room at Dino’s Backstage (2016 & 2017). I’ve traveled to Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre in Palm Springs, CA, to perform as part of their Sumer Cabaret Series (2018), and during the pandemic I performed in their online cabaret series (2020). Recently, I appeared at the Brownville Art Center in Nebraska.

...a good example of a performer who shares his personal experience with the audience in the right way where we enjoy the chance to get to know him artistically and personally.

Some of my favorite songs:

Stephen Sondheim, to Bruce Springsteen, to George M. Cohen. And let’s not forget the great Hoagy Carmichael.

I love the classic American songbook and the post-modern repertoire of pop songs, including my favorites to sing (which change on a daily basis): End of the World (Matt Alter), Just the Way You Look Tonight (Jerome Kern), and Fragile (Sting).

The intimacy of a cabaret stage is immediate, palpable and in the moment. That’s what I love —being in a creative dialogue with both the classic songwriters and my audience.

All I need is a mic, a small intimate stage setting, a piano and the audience. Live music is about being in the moment and I’m not afraid of a little banter with the audience.

So far, I’ve created 6 critically acclaimed, intimate cabaret experiences, and more are on the horizon.

COLLABORATORS: musical director, James Followell and director, Steven Petrillo.

Tim Connell is a cabaret minimalist...who lets his songs and his tales speak for themselves.
